Speaker Biography
Blackrock CEO Larry Fink said this year "a company cannot achieve long-term profits without embracing purpose”. The impact of Coronavirus underpins the need for businesses to act towards a dual imperative of climate justice and social justice. Hilary is helping Iceland to do just that.
She works with Iceland Foods on their sustainability and CSR approach that has gained global recognition for the privately-owned, UK supermarket business, which has almost 1,000 stores, 25,000 staff and 2.1 per cent market share. The business has the radical aim of ‘democratising environmentalism’ through a ‘Doing it Right’ mantra and bold corporate activism campaigns, that have engaged millions of people on palm oil and plastic pollution.
Hilary has twice been named ‘UK outstanding independent practitioner’ by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and her work has won multiple industry awards. She has held leadership positions in the private, public and third sectors, and has worked with communities in the UK and overseas to drive corporate responsibility and social innovation.
